Rodney Schmidt has more than 28 years of experience in global energy and financial industries. He was Founder and CEO of Northrise Energy, a privately-held energy advisory firm. Previously Mr. Schmidt served as Managing Director, Standard Chartered Bank in charge of wholesale banking for largest energy clients in the Americas. In 1989 Mr. Schmidt joined PFC Energy (PFC), a global oil and gas strategic advisory firm. As a partner for more than 17 years, he was pivotal in building PFC into one of the industry’s leading oil and gas advisory groups. Mr. Schmidt has published and presented extensively on the global oil & gas and LNG industries, and on oil and gas taxation. Before PFC, he was with the Monetary and Financial Analysis division of the Bank of Canada in Ottawa (the Central Bank). He has served in an advisory capacity for several energy and CO2 technology companies over the past decade. Mr. Schmidt holds a Master’s degree in International Relations from the School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) of The Johns Hopkins University in Washington D.C., a second graduate degree in Economics from Queen’s University at Kingston, Canada, and a Bachelor’s in Economics (with Honors) from the University of Alberta.
