Dan Tangherlini is currently the Chief Operating Officer of the real estate private equity firm Artemis Real Estate Partners. Prior to joining Artemis he was Administrator of the General Services Administration (GSA) - a position to which he was appointed by President Barack Obama and confirmed by the United States Senate. As GSA Administrator, Dan was responsible for managing the Federal Government's more than 350 million square foot commercial real estate portfolio and overseeing the annual acquisition of more than $65 Billion in products and services for Federal agencies. His work focused on enhancing sustainability, efficiency and the adoption of technology. Dan joined GSA from the Treasury Department where he had been appointed by the President and confirmed by the Senate to be the Chief Financial Officer and Assistant Secretary of Management. Prior to Treasury, Dan served as the Deputy Mayor and City Administrator of Washington DC. He also has served as the Interim General Manager for the Washington Metro and Director of the District of Columbia Department of Transportation. Dan's earlier Federal service included assignments with the US Department of Transportation and the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) working on transportation and infrastructure finance issues. His work also extends to non-profits, including serving on the board of the DC-based Earth Conservation Corps, an environmental training and career development program focused on at-risk urban youth. Dan is honored to join the Blue Planet Government and Policy Advisory Board and further the efforts to promote Blue Planet's game-changing technology.
